We are a movement of students from around the world dedicated to following after Jesus Christ.
Our name comes from a combination of the Greek letters Chi(X) Alpha(A) which are the first letters of a phrase used by the Apostle Paul, Christou Apostoloi. Translated this means Christ’s ambassadors or sent ones. This name reminds us of the commitment we’ve made and our responsibility to share Jesus with others.
We are therefore Christ’s ambassadors, as though God were making His appeal through us. We implore you on Christ’s behalf, be reconciled to God. – 2 Corinthians 5:20
We meet on college campuses, in all sorts of settings and sizes. The gatherings are informal, charged with music, given to humor, and deal with everything from relationships to the nature of truth. The goals of these gatherings are to meet with God, meet among friends, and meet real needs.
VISION STATEMENT
We are a Spirit-empowered, diverse community of believers on university campuses, declaring in word and lifestyle our faith in Jesus Christ, equipped to fulfill our purpose in God’s global plan.
MISSION STATEMENT
We reconcile students to Christ, equipping them through Spirit-filled communities of prayer, worship, fellowship, discipleship and mission to transform the university, the marketplace, and the world.
5-FOLD APPROACH
We seek to introduce fellow collegians to an authentic relationship with Jesus Christ. We plan to do this through…
prayer…Communication with God.
worship…Expressions of thanks through word, music, and service
fellowship…Community of students developing quality relationships.
discipleship…Learning about Jesus and following His example.
mission…Living a life that reflects our relationship with God in what we say and do.
What makes us different?
We are focused on transforming our world, locally and around the globe. We experience the supernatural. We work hard to learn from and join with international students. We strive to be multicultural. We see that faith and thinking are related.
Chi Alpha is located on more than 300 campuses (including 16 in Oklahoma) worldwide. To find out more about this national movement visit chialpha.com.
